|Welcome speech – Introduction|
Start info session: .NET CORE
Part 1: Getting to the core of .Net Core
.NET Core is Microsoft’s answer to the open-source and cross-platform wave that’s been taking the software industry by storm lately. But what it .NET Core all about and is it ready for prime-time? Should you move all your existing development efforts to .NET Core already or is it worth waiting just a little longer?
In this session, we will look at the .NET Core platform and try to get an answer to these difficult questions. You will learn what’s the position and state of .NET Core and you’ll see what we can already do (and what we can’t do) with .NET Core. We’ll cover console apps with .NET Core, standard library-based apps including UWP and we’ll take a look at how we can share this towards Xamarin apps as well. We’ll also take a look at .NET Core awesomeness running on a Mac!
After this talk, you’ll have a good understanding of the .NET Core platform.
|Part 2: Diving into ASP .NET Core MVC|
ASP.NET Core MVC is probably one of the first places where you can really practically apply .NET Core. It allows us to run .NET-based web applications to run cross-platform. How different is ASP.NET Core from ASP.NET? In this session, we’ll take a look at a real-application that’s built up from the ground using ASP.NET Core. You’ll see how to get started with ASP.NET Core MVC, learn about tag helpers, configuration, dependency injection, unit testing, Identity and more. We’ll finish the session by deploying the application into Azure App Services.
You’ll walk away with the understanding of building up a real-world ASP.NET Core MVC application!
